Shoppers will be able to benefit from free energy saving tips and information about other key energy issues next week.
Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire will run a stall at Yate Tesco Extra on 11th March from 1pm to 3pm.
The free event will allow passers-by to find out how they can cut down on their bills through savvy energy usage and energy efficiency measures.
There will also be much more energy information available – including about support available from providers and the Government for vulnerable customers.
People will also have the chance to sign up for a free carbon monoxide (CO) alarm. CO is a dangerous gas which can be emitted from household appliances but cannot be seen or smelled. Having a working alarm in your home is extremely important.
And anyone wanting to see if they can get a cheaper energy tariff will be able to sign up for a price comparison appointment by phone with one of the charity’s trained Advisers.
The event will also allow anyone experiencing any other energy issues – such as disputes with energy providers or problems with smart meters – to book an appointment with the charity’s energy expert.
Come and have a chat with us at Tesco event
This event is timely as the charity is now helping people in the community with twice as many energy and energy debt issues compared to prior to the pandemic in 2019.
And it is worth speaking to the charity now before the price cap changes again on 1st April.
Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire Advice Services Manager Iestyn Stops said: “We’re delighted to be offering free energy advice to anyone who attends, including access to free carbon monoxide alarms to help keep households safe.
“With energy prices due to change, now is a really good time to check you’re on the best tariff and to pick up practical, savvy tips on keeping costs down.
“We’d encourage anyone with questions or concerns about their energy to come along and have a chat with us.”
Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire CEO Chantal Watts said: “It’s a tough time for energy costs, with the cold weather and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
“We’re pleased to be able to have a stall at Yate Tesco Extra so we can be reached easily by shoppers on 11th March and are grateful to Tesco for hosting us.
“If you are struggling with energy or any other issue, please make contact with our charity – either at the event or via our regular free drop-in advice sessions across South Gloucestershire.”
