‘Extremely helpful’ – success story of the month – Kate’s client’s broadband saving
Our Foodbank Project Adviser Kate was able to help a client get a broadband saving of £27 per month.
The client had previously asked her provider for a cheaper tariff but had been told she would need to pay £60 for a new router which she could not afford.
But Kate told the client to call again and insist she was eligible for a social tariff as she receives Universal Credit.
This time, she was able to speak to someone who handles social tariffs for the provider and was instantly switched to a cheaper service – from £42 per month to £15 per month.
This results in a broadband saving of £324 per year – and will cover the cost of a food shop each month.
The client said: “Last time I called they said I had to send the modem back and set it up again.
“But Kate said because I was on Universal Credit to mention that. So they put me through to another section and the chap was really helpful – he said ‘I can switch it now’.
“I was really pleased with that. God knows what the other people were saying. It’s really unfair.
“Kate was extremely helpful.”
