  • Matched Giving

Heard of employee matched giving but not sure what it is?

If you are already volunteering for us you can claim back some of your volunteering hard work from your employer as a cash reward, based on the number of volunteer hours you have given (or a capped amount per year).

Equally if you have – or are planning to take on a fundraising event or sponsored challenge for us, you may also be able to ask for matched funding on all the sponsorship money you have already collected. In many cases, participating companies will match an employee’s donation pound for pound up to a set amount. A number of organisations will even double-match.

It is generally larger companies that offer formal schemes for matched funding, while others may consider each request on its own merits so it’s definitely worth speaking to your HR about it or investigating your benefits policy on what they can provide,

    Case Study: Lloyd’s Bank

One of our new general volunteer advisors, Sarah, has been volunteering for us for a number of months and works for Lloyds Bank in Bristol. She nominated Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire for matched giving, who incredibly provide match funding based on the number of hours she gives to us per year – which already has totalled £400!

Thank you so much to Lloyds Bank and her Sarah for thinking of us – your funding really does go a long way.

If you’re part of a large organisation in Bristol or South Gloucestershire, we’d love you to investigate what your company can offer you. Perhaps you could suggest putting together a work team and taking part in one of our sponsored challenges and ask for matched funding on your sponsorship. Or perhaps you would be interested in giving back to your local community more by volunteering with us in the long-term?

Below we’ve listed a number of organisations that offer it, to get you started:

    KPMG
    Nationwide
    Argos
    Lloyds Bank
