- Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire will run a weekly free advice session at FACE in Elm Park, Filton on Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon starting 3rd September
- Filton residents will be able to come without an appointment for help in practically any area including benefits, debt and cost-of-living issues
- This is possible thanks to funding from Filton Town Council
Filton residents will be able to get free advice for practically any issue at a new advice session run by South Gloucestershire’s largest advice agency.
Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire is launching a new open-door session in Filton on 3rd September.
The sessions are fully funded by Filton Town Council and come after a collaboration between the charity and the town council earlier this year.
This is fantastic news for the people of Filton who until now will have had to travel to Yate for face-to-face advice from the charity.
They will now be able to access local, free, independent and confidential advice from a trained adviser in person each week on Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon.
The sessions will be held at FACE, in Elm Park, Filton, BS34 7PS beginning Wednesday 3rd September.
Advice can cover virtually anything – including (but not limited to) benefits, debt, housing, cost-of-living support, domestic abuse and employment issues.
There is no need to book an appointment – just turn up on the day to see a trained, generalist adviser. If the issue is complex, the charity will arrange a follow-up appointment.
Charity ‘excited to be offering’ new Filton drop-in
Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire’s Chief Executive Officer Chantal Watts said: “We’re very pleased to announce a new free advice session for Filton residents beginning in September and we are grateful to Filton Town Council for making this possible.
“This follows successful work between our charity and the town council earlier this year.
“We are excited to be offering a new open-door session in this location and look forward to meeting anyone who needs help at FACE on Wednesdays, 10am to 12 noon.
“The cost-of-living is still very much a crisis for many people but we can help. Come to see us for help if you are strugging.”
Mayor of Filton Councillor Tom Mewies said: “Filton Town Council is delighted to support this initiative which we are sure will be a valuable service for our Community.
“The council has already worked with Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire to provide help for staff and customers affected by the Active Nation closure earlier this year.
“Now we are pleased that following funding from the Council, Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire is extending that service to all of the people of Filton who might need advice on a range of issues affecting their lives.”
Other drop-ins
