The team at Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire

Our Advice Centre is based in Yate, near Bristol and we run free, face-to-face advice across South Gloucestershire.

We run a free telephone adviceline on 08082787947, offer comprehensive online advice via the Citizens Advice website and run a number of projects which provide vital help to people in our community.

We also speak up for the people we help by campaigning on the issues that matter – using our data and influence to help bring about change locally and nationally.

    What we do

We help people find a way forward

Adviser with clientWe can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating. At Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire, we believe no one should have to face these problems without good quality, independent advice.

That’s why we’re here: to give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.

We give advice to millions of people

When we say we’re for everyone, we mean it. People rely on us because we’re independent and totally impartial.

We speak up for the people we help

Serious woman on benchNo one else sees so many people with so many different kinds of problems, and that gives us a unique insight into the challenges people are facing today.

We see how problems can be linked. By helping people with the underlying cause of their problems and making sure they don’t get worse, we save the government and public services hundreds of millions of pounds every year.

    Our services and projects

We run a wide range of services and projects – from generalists to specialists for people facing particular challenges.

Our Generalist Advisers can help with practically any issue at our drop-ins across South Gloucestershire every day of the week.

Our Debt Team can review your personal debts and look at the best options for you to move forward.

Our Energy Specialist can help resolve issues with suppliers on clients’ behalf as well as helping them save money by finding the best energy tariff for them.

Our Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) Adviser delivers vital support across a range of locations including rural areas which have been under-served by the advice sector.

Our Help To Claim Team can help if you want to see if you are eligible for Universal Credit – until the first correct Universal Credit payment.

Our Foodbank Project Adviser makes contact with people using a foodbank because they are struggling to afford food to explore underlying and connected issues they may have.

Our Money Matters project provides budgeting advice to help you make your money go further. Sign up for one of our sessions.

Our Personal Independence Payment (PIP) Specialists help people apply for PIP and appeal if claims are turned down.

Our When Advice Really Matters (WARM) advisers are available to help people long-term with low to medium mental health issues to resolve a wide range of issues. If you live in South Glos and are registered with a South Glos GP, speak with your GP surgery about being referred to the project.

We are in alignment with the national Citizens Advice values to help us achieve our cultural ambition: an inclusive, purpose driven workplace that listens, works together, is open and honest, accessible and helps everyone be the very best they can be.

These values, and the example behaviours that bring them to life guide everything we do as we work together towards our shared purpose of helping more people, whoever they are and whatever their problem.

    • Purpose driven: We always focus on the people who need our help.
    • People focused: We recognise value and reward contributions and talents in an open, fair and meaningful way.
    • Collaborative: We build relationships across teams and locations to foster innovation and inclusive ways of working.
    • Transparent: We’re open and honest, sharing information early and often whenever we can.
